Qualifications

Lots of students are at UTech for an IT degree. Most of them will probably get it. Now CAST was a highly technical college requiring an Internship and proof of what you could do to progress. UTech doesn't have those requirements but what do you think is the minimum amount that someone should display before they can even be considered for an IT role?

I agree with the gist of the article; but the percentage surprises me. Lots of IT graduates can't really code, and if you are talking about software engineering the figures may get even worst.

I Think that his main issue is with people who are applying as a Programmer. Someone can be in IT and happily tell you they cannot program a computer. This is specifically with not only people who say they can program but are seeking a career path in doing so. This is sort of like someone trying to be a mechanic and not being able to tell a oil pump from a kidney.

(I agree I don't understand why you would want a career that's as high stress as programming with no clue as to how it's done. But then I never understand why people enter a career they don't have a love for and are not good at)
